Cryogenic separations and, in particular, cryogenic distillation can be usefully applied to strategic new fields. Usual technologies available in the market for natural gas treating may not be profitable in treating natural gas with a high CO2 content, where CO2 geo-sequestration is required. Moreover the increasing interest towards liquefied natural gas (LNG) makes cryogenic separation technologies more appealing in comparison with conventional ones because of the high purity required for CH4 and the low temperature level at which methane is purified methane is available.
On the basis of a consolidated expertise on thermodynamics of solid-liquid-vapor equilibria and on modeling, GASP can design optimized process solutions for the cryogenic CO2 removal from natural gas, from flue gases of power plants and from syngas, as well as for the LNG supply chain.
