Valentina Schiattarella is a PhD student at Dipartimento di Chimica, Materiali e Ingegneria Chimica “G. Natta” of Politecnico di Milano. She is member of the Group on Advanced Separation Processes & Gas Processing – “GASP”, with research interests focused on thermodynamics, process simulation and the development of a green solvent for the process of CO2 capture from flue gas stream to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to the atmosphere.

She took her M.Sc. degree in Chemical Engineering at Politecnico di Milano in 2023. Her thesis was titled Techno-economic assessment of the CO2 removal section to reduce emissions in steel plants and focused on simulation of CO2 removal from the blast furnace gas of a steel plant employing a chemical absorption, on the evaluation of alternative solvents with the objective of identifying potential environmentally friendly alternatives to MEA and on the collection of vapor-liquid equilibrium (VLE) data.

In 2023, she won a PhD scholarship at Politecnico di Milano, where she is currently attending her “Industrial Chemistry and Chemical Engineering” PhD programme.
