Omnia Farag is a PhD student at Dipartimento di Chimica, Materiali e Ingegneria Chimica “G. Natta” of Politecnico di Milano. She is member of the Group on Advanced Separation Processes & Gas Processing – “GASP”, with research interests focused on thermodynamics, process simulation and the development of a green solvent for the process of CO2 capture from flue gas stream to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to the atmosphere.

She took her M.Sc. degree in Chemical Engineering at Politecnico di Milano in 2025. Her thesis was titled “Experimental Evaluation and Simulation of Solvent Systems for CO2 Removal” and focused on the optimization of MEA-based CO2 capture process through chemical absorption, and on the experimental evaluation of alternative bio-derived solvent with the objective of identifying greener and more sustainable substitutes to conventional amine systems.

In 2025, she won a PhD scholarship at Politecnico di Milano, where she is currently attending her “Industrial Chemistry and Chemical Engineering” PhD programme.
